Applications are now open for the post of Advisor with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), to be stationed at their eastern regional office in Kolkata .The vacancy is open to eligible candidates on a deputation basis, to be governed by foreign service rules. The selected candidate will serve initially for a period up to March 31, 2028, or until superannuation, whichever is earlier.

Vacancy Details
The vacancy is for the post of Advisor at the Regional Office in Kolkata. The appointment will be made on deputation basis, and the selected candidate will serve under the foreign service terms. The position is initially available for a period up to 31st March 2028 or until the candidate’s superannuation, whichever comes earlier.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications:
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields from a recognized University/Institution:
- Business Administration
- Economics
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Law
- Science
- Humanities
- Don’t meet the usual criteria? No problem! A professional membership with ICAI or the Institute of Cost Accountants (formerly ICWAI) will also make you eligible for consideration.
Experience:
- Applicants must have a minimum of four years of continuous service in Pay Level-13.
- A cumulative total of 17 years of continuous service in Group ‘A’ positions, including at least four years in Pay Level-13.
Equivalency for Candidates from Other Organizations:
- Central Government Officers, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory and Autonomous Bodies: Must hold an equivalent post in Pay Level-14 on a regular basis.
Salary
The selected candidate will be placed in Pay Level-14 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), with a salary range of Rs. 144,200 – 218,200. The candidate will also be entitled to receive various allowances, including:Dearness Allowance (DA)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA)
- Other allowances as per government rules.
Selection Process
The selection process will involve the following steps:

- Shortlisting: Based on the initial screening, candidates will be shortlisted for the interview process.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, during which their qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role will be evaluated.
- Final Selection: Selection will be determined by the candidate’s performance during the interview process. Those selected will be appointed to the position on a deputation basis.

Age Limit
The maximum age limit for applicants is 58 years as of the last date of submission of applications (02nd June 2025). Age limit concessions will not be applicable to candidates of any category.
