Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment 2025: Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerk), and Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts)

This recruitment aims to fill critical vacancies in the positions of Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential), Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerk), and Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts) for both male and female candidates. Application Fees

The application fees vary according to the candidate’s category:

  • General / OBC / EWS candidates: ₹500/-

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidates applying for this recruitment must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of India, or
  • Be a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962 with permanent residence status, or
  • Be a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, or Tanzania (Tanganyika/Zanzibar) with permanent residence intent.

Candidates in the second and third categories must obtain a certificate of eligibility from the competent authority to be considered eligible for recruitment.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 21 and 28 years of age as of 1st July 2025. Candidates born between 1st July 1997 and 1st July 2004 are eligible.

  • Relaxation is applicable as per government rules for SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories.
  • Ex-servicemen and state government employees may receive additional age relaxation as per relevant rules.

Educational Qualification

Eligibility depends on the post applied for:

  1. Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential):
    • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in India or equivalent.
    • Minimum typing speed of 25 words per minute in Hindi (Inscript Unicode) and 30 words per minute in English.
    • Shorthand speed of at least 80 words per minute in Hindi transcription.
    • ‘O’ Level certificate from NIELIT (DOEACC) or equivalent recognized by the government.
  2. Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerk):
    • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in India or equivalent.
    • Minimum typing speed of 25 words per minute in Hindi (Inscript Unicode) and 30 words per minute in English.
    • ‘O’ Level certificate from NIELIT (DOEACC) or equivalent recognized by the government.
  3. Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts):
    • A bachelor’s degree in commerce or a postgraduate diploma in accounting from a recognized university or equivalent.
    • Minimum typing speed of 15 words per minute in Hindi (Inscript Unicode).
    • ‘O’ Level certificate from NIELIT (DOEACC) or equivalent recognized by the government.

Note: Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination are not eligible. Only candidates who have completed all academic requirements at the time of application will be considered.

Additional/Preferential Qualifications

Candidates may be given preference if they possess any of the following:

  1. Higher computer qualifications from DOEACC/NIELIT or government-recognized institutions.
  2. A law degree from a UGC-recognized university or college.
  3. Minimum of two years of service in the Territorial Army.
  4. National Cadet Corps (NCC) ‘B’ certificate.

Physical Standards

Candidates must meet specific physical standards to qualify for recruitment:

For Male Candidates:

  • Height: 163 cm (General, OBC, SC), 156 cm (ST)
  • Chest: 77 cm unexpanded, 82 cm expanded (General, OBC, SC), 75 cm unexpanded, 80 cm expanded (ST)

For Female Candidates:

  • Height: 150 cm (General, OBC, SC), 145 cm (ST)
  • Minimum weight: 40 kg

Note: Measurements from previous recruitment or private institutions are not valid. Only measurements taken during the official physical standard test will be considered.

Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of multiple stages:

  1. Written Examination:
    • Total marks: 400
    • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
    • Question papers include:
      • General Hindi / Computer Knowledge: 100 marks
      • General Knowledge / Current Affairs: 100 marks
      • Numerical and Mental Ability: 100 marks
      • Mental Aptitude / Reasoning: 100 marks
    • Candidates must secure at least 35% marks in each section and 40% overall (normalized).
  2. Document Verification & Physical Standard Test:
    • Successful candidates from the written exam will undergo document verification and physical standard test.
    • All relevant educational, reservation, and identification documents must be presented in original.
  3. Computer Typing & Shorthand Test:
    • Candidates for the Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential) post will also appear for Hindi shorthand test.
    • Typing test for all relevant posts will be conducted in Hindi and English with minimum speed requirements.
  4. Medical Examination:
    • Candidates who clear all previous stages will undergo a medical examination to ensure physical and mental fitness.
  5. Character Verification:
    • Final appointment is subject to satisfactory character verification. Candidates with criminal records or unethical conduct will be disqualified.

Salary and Pay Scale

The positions come under Group C of the state government pay structure with the following pay scales:

  1. Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential): Pay Band: ₹9,300 – ₹34,800, Grade Pay ₹4,200 (Level 6), Total pay ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
  2. Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerk): Pay Band: ₹5,200 – ₹20,200, Grade Pay ₹2,800 (Level 5), Total pay ₹29,200 – ₹92,300
  3. Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts): Pay Band: ₹5,200 – ₹20,200, Grade Pay ₹2,800 (Level 5), Total pay ₹29,200 – ₹92,300

Reservation and Relaxation

Reservation is applied as per Uttar Pradesh state government norms:

  • Vertical (Category) Reservation: SC, ST, OBC, and EWS as per rules.
  • Horizontal Reservation: Women, Ex-Servicemen, and Physically Challenged (if eligible).
  • Age relaxation as per category rules and relevant state government orders.
