The UPSC Combined Geo Scientist exam is a highly prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India. It offers an incredible opportunity for candidates who aspire to work in the field of geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, and other related disciplines. This exam aims to select qualified candidates for various scientific positions in government departments and organizations.
To be eligible for this exam, candidates must meet certain educational qualifications and age criteria set by the UPSC. The selection process consists of a written examination followed by an interview round. The written exam comprises two objective papers on general studies and three subjective papers on specific subjects related to geology or hydrogeology.
Candidates who successfully clear both stages are then called for a personal interview where their overall knowledge, communication skills, personality traits, and suitability for the job are assessed. Based on their performance in both stages, final merit lists are prepared to determine the selected candidates.
Once selected through the UPSC Combined Geo Scientist Exam, candidates can look forward to exciting career opportunities in government departments such as Geological Survey of India (GSI), Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Ministry of Mines, National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), etc.
Working as a geo scientist not only provides job security but also allows individuals to contribute towards important research projects that have a direct impact on society. From studying natural disasters like earthquakes and landslides to exploring mineral resources or groundwater potentiality – there’s no shortage of fascinating challenges awaiting those who become part of this field.
