As part of this initiative, the State Health Society, Bihar has invited online applications from eligible specialist doctors for appointment at First Referral Units (FRUs) across different districts of Bihar.
The recruitment is purely contractual, initially for 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance, availability of posts, and funding approval under NHM.

A total of 256 specialist doctor posts are available. The post-wise distribution is as follows:
- Ophthalmologist (Eye Specialist) – 20 Posts
- Psychiatrist – 32 Posts
- Dermatologist (Skin Specialist) – 35 Posts
- ENT Surgeon – 37 Posts
- Anaesthetist – 132 Posts
Reservation includes 35% for women, 4% for Persons with Disabilities, and 2% for grandchildren of Freedom Fighters, as per Bihar Government rules.
Educational Qualification & Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess the required medical qualification from a recognized institute/university and must be registered with BCMR/MCI/NMC.

Psychiatrist

Medical Registration Requirement
- Registration with Bihar Council of Medical Registration (BCMR), Patna
- OR Medical Council of India (MCI)
- OR National Medical Commission (NMC)
Candidates who are not registered at the time of application may apply but must submit valid registration proof before joining, otherwise candidature may be cancelled.

Pay Scale / Monthly Honorarium
Selected candidates will receive a fixed consolidated monthly honorarium under NHM:
- MD/MS/DNB (District HQ Posting): ₹1,00,000 per month
- MD/MS/DNB (Non-District HQ Posting): ₹1,20,000 per month
- Diploma Holders: ₹90,000 per month
The salary is subject to posting location and qualification.
Nature & Duration of Appointment

Contractual doctors will not be treated as government employees, and no claim for regularization will be entertained.

- Merit Score (Total 100 Marks)
Marks Distribution
- MBBS Marks: Up to 60 Marks
- MD/MS/DNB: 40 Marks (Flat)
- Diploma: 30 Marks (Flat)
MBBS percentage × 0.60 will be used for calculation.
Tie-Breaking Criteria
- Older candidate preferred
- Higher qualification preferred
- Order of candidates’ names based on Class 10 certificate alphabetically

Candidates shortlisted based on merit will be called for Document Verification and Counselling.
