Job Overview: Language Trainee

The position of Language Trainee at Spices Board is a contractual training role that focuses on language translation tasks, primarily from Hindi to English and vice versa. The candidate will assist in official translation and documentation work related to the activities of the Spices Board.

Eligibility Criteria for Language Trainee

Educational Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Hindi: The candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Hindi from a recognized university, with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or as the medium of examination at the degree level.ORMaster’s Degree in English: Alternatively, candidates can hold a Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or as the medium of examination at the degree level.
  • Translation Experience: The candidate must also have:
    • A valid Diploma or Certificate in translation between Hindi and English.
    • Alternatively, candidates with two years of translation experience from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government offices, including Government of India undertakings, are also eligible.
  • Computer Proficiency: The candidate should be proficient in computer usage, with knowledge of Hindi Typewriting speed at a minimum of 25 words per minute.

Age Limit:

Candidates must be not exceeding 30 years as of the last date for receipt of applications (6th February 2025). Age relaxation may be applicable for certain categories as per government rules.

Important Note:

Candidates who have previously completed training in any of the offices of the Spices Board are not eligible to apply.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Language Trainee position consists of the following stages:

  • Shortlisting: After the submission of applications, candidates will be shortlisted based on their eligibility and qualifications.
  • Written Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test that will assess their skills in translation (from Hindi to English and vice versa). The test will also include language proficiency, general knowledge, and other relevant subjects.
  • Rank List: A rank list will be created based on the candidates’ performance in the written test. The selected candidates will be engaged as Official Language Trainees as per the requirements of the Spices Board.
  • Final Selection: Candidates who perform well in the test will be selected for the training program.
