South East Central Railway (SECR) Act Apprentice Recruitment 2025

South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, has announced a massive opportunity for aspiring candidates looking to begin their careers through apprenticeship training. Applications are invited for engagement as Trade Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rule 1992 in Nagpur Division and Workshop Motibagh for the training year 2025-26.

This is an excellent opportunity for ITI-qualified candidates to gain practical experience and develop technical skills with one of the most well-established zones of Indian Railways. A total of 1007 vacancies are available across various trades.

Vacancy Details

A total of 1007 apprenticeship positions are available and distributed as follows:

Nagpur Division – 919 Posts

Key trades and available positions include:

• COPA (Computer Operator & Programming Assistant): 170
• Electrician: 253
• Fitter: 66
• Diesel Mechanic: 110
• Carpenter: 39
• Plumber, Painter, Wireman, Welder, Machinist, Electronics Mechanic, among others

Workshop Motibagh – 88 Posts

Trades include:

• Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Turner, COPA

Vacancies are reserved for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Divyang (PwBD), and Ex-servicemen categories as per government norms.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

• Candidates must have passed 10th class (Matriculation) or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks.
• Should hold an ITI certification in the applicable trade, granted by either NCVT or SCVT.
• Candidates must ensure correct entry of 10th and ITI marks on the portal; applications with incomplete or incorrect data will be rejected.
• Higher qualifications should not be filled in the application form.

Age Limit (as on 5th April 2025):

• Minimum Age: 15 years
• Maximum Age: 24 years

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• PwBD & Ex-servicemen: 10 years
• For ex-servicemen with prior defense service, additional relaxation is applicable as per rules

Community-wise eligible date of birth ranges:

• UR: Between 05.04.2001 to 05.04.2010
• OBC: Between 05.04.1998 to 05.04.2010
• SC/ST: Between 05.04.1996 to 05.04.2010
• PwBD/Ex-servicemen: Between 05.04.1991 to 05.04.2010

Selection Process

Selection will be purely based on merit. There is no written exam or interview.

The merit list will be prepared by taking into account:

• Percentage of marks in 10th standard (minimum 50%)
• Marks obtained in ITI in the relevant trade

Stipend / Salary

Selected apprentices will receive a stipend as per the rates prescribed under the Apprentices Act, during the training period.

Training Agreement

Selected candidates will sign a Contract of Apprenticeship Training before beginning their training. Key terms include:

• If the employer terminates the contract prematurely without valid reason, compensation will be provided to the apprentice.
• If the apprentice fails to follow the terms of the contract and leaves prematurely, compensation must be paid as determined by the Apprenticeship Adviser.

Posting Locations

Training will take place at various departments of South East Central Railway in Nagpur Division and Workshop Motibagh.

Preference may be given to candidates from nearby districts including Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Rajnandgaon, Mandla, Chhindwara, Seoni, Jabalpur, and Balaghat.
