The ERS Reviewer position is part of the Internal Audit Department (IAD) of SBI, and the
chosen candidates will be employed to evaluate and monitor credit proposals, confirm conformity, and identify any defaults in the sanction process. The reviewers will be given responsibilities on a full-time scale but in a contract-based role, providing adaptability with organization.

Vacancy Details
A total of 85 vacancies have been announced for the post of ERS Reviewer, distributed across various categories to ensure representation and inclusivity. The category-wise breakup is as follows:
- General (UR): 40
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 10
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 10
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 10
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 15
In addition, horizontal reservation is applicable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in accordance with Government of India rules. These positions are tentatively distributed and may be increased, decreased, or withdrawn at the discretion of the Bank, depending on administrative requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure the most appropriate candidates are considered, SBI has outlined specific eligibility conditions that must be strictly adhered to. All eligibility conditions are assessed as on 2nd April 2025.
1. Retirement Grade
- Candidates must be retired officers of State Bank of India or erstwhile Associate Banks of SBI (e-ABs).
- Retirement should have been from the Senior Management Grade Scale-IV (SMGS-IV) or SMGS-V.
- Retirement must be on superannuation at the age of 60.
- Candidates who took voluntary retirement, resigned, or were dismissed/terminated/suspended from service are not eligible.
- Exceptions: Those who voluntarily retired at age 58 or above with a minimum of 30 years of pensionable service may be considered.
2. Age Limit
- Minimum age: 60 years
- Maximum age: 63 years (as of 2nd April 2025)
- The contract can be extended, if needed, depending on performance, up to the age of 65.
3. Experience
- Preference will be given to those with a background in credit review, internal audit, or credit sanctioning.
- Hands-on experience in loan processing, compliance, or financial analysis will be considered an added advantage.
4. Health and Conduct
- The applicant should be in good physical and mental health.
- There should be no major ailments or physical conditions that may impair the ability to discharge responsibilities.
- Candidates must have had an unblemished service record, especially during the last five years prior to retirement.
- No pending disciplinary, criminal, vigilance, or enforcement agency cases should exist against the applicant.
5. Place of Residence
- Candidates residing in the vicinity of the proposed place of posting will be preferred to ensure immediate availability and ease of travel.
- No reimbursement will be provided for travel or stay, so local candidates are at a relative advantage.
Salary and Remuneration
SBI provides a fixed monthly salary based on the rank or position the officer held at the time of retirement.
- For Retired Officers of SMGS-IV: ₹50,000 per month
- For Retired Officers of SMGS-V: ₹65,000 per month
There are no additional allowances or benefits, including medical benefits, travel allowance, or insurance. However, pension and other post-retirement benefits remain unaffected as this engagement is not classified as re-employment.
The salary reflects the importance of the role and the experience required, offering retired officers a meaningful and financially viable avenue to remain engaged.
Selection Process
SBI has set up a clear and well-organized selection process to make sure everything is fair and unbiased.
1. Shortlisting
- Shortlisting will be done based on the information provided in the application and documents submitted.
- SBI reserves the right to set minimum eligibility criteria beyond what has been stated, depending on the volume and quality of applications.
- Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee shortlisting.
2. Interview
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview.
- The interview carries 100 marks.
- The Bank will decide the minimum marks needed to qualify.
- The final merit list will be circle-wise and category-wise, based solely on interview performance.
- If two candidates get the same interview marks, the older one will be given preference.
The Bank’s decision in the selection process will be final and cannot be challenged. No correspondence or appeal will be entertained.

- Registration
- Visit the official SBI careers portal.
- Click on the appropriate recruitment notice titled “Engagement of Retired Officers as ERS Reviewers – 2025”.
- Register yourself by filling in personal details, mobile number, and email ID.
- Filling the Application Form
- Enter all required details including name, age, retirement grade, branch/location last worked, qualifications, experience, etc.
- Upload the scanned copies of your photo, signature, and documents.
- Check for accuracy and completeness.
- Submission
- Review the filled-in application carefully.
- Click on “Final Submit”.
- Note down your registration number and save a copy of the submitted form for reference.
You are allowed a maximum of three modifications before final submission. Once submitted, no changes can be made.

- Only the candidates who are shortlisted will be informed through email or SMS.
- SBI also has the right to change or cancel the recruitment process at any time without prior notice.
- The selected candidates are expected to take up assignment at Circle Audit Offices or other specified locations across India.
