Age Criteria

Educational Qualification
The educational requirements for applying to the post of Junior Assistant (Fire Service) are as follows:

Selection Process
The selection process for the Junior Assistant (Fire Service) post consists of several stages. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the process:
Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
The first step is an online Computer-Based Test (CBT), which will assess candidates on two broad subjects:
- Part A (50%): This section will consist of questions relating to the candidate’s educational qualification and subject knowledge related to the job role.
- Part B (50%): This section will test the candidate’s general knowledge, general intelligence, general aptitude, and English language proficiency.
The minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are:
- 50 out of 100 for UR/EWS/OBC candidates.
- 40 out of 100 for SC/ST candidates.
Stage 2: Document Verification and Medical Examination
Shortlisted candidates from Stage 1 will undergo document verification, followed by a medical examination and Physical Measurement Test. If the candidate passes these, they will be allowed to appear for a driving test (depending on their vehicle license).
Stage 3: Physical Endurance Test (PET)
Candidates who pass the driving test will be required to appear for a Physical Endurance Test (PET). The PET includes tests like running, carrying a sandbag, pole climbing, rope climbing, and ladder climbing. The maximum marks for each event vary depending on the gender and physical standards of the candidates.
- Male candidates need to complete a 100-meter run in 16 seconds, carry a 50 kg sandbag over 50 meters in 40 seconds, and meet other physical criteria.
- Female candidates have slightly relaxed criteria but must complete their tasks within the designated time.
Note: Candidates who fail to meet the required standards in the PET will be disqualified from further selection.
Medical Standards
To be eligible for selection, candidates must meet specific physical and medical standards, which include:
- Height: 167 cm (for men) and 157 cm (for women).
- Weight: Minimum of 55 kg for men and 45 kg for women.
- Vision: 6/6 vision in both eyes (without glasses), normal color vision, and no night blindness.
- Physical Deformities: Candidates should not have any physical deformity or major operation that impairs their ability to perform duties in Fire Services.
Candidates will also undergo a hearing and speech test, and chronic disease will disqualify a candidate from the selection process.
Emoluments and Bond Details
Selected candidates will receive a pay scale of ₹31,000 – ₹92,000 along with various allowances. However, as part of the training process, candidates will be required to undergo an 18-week Basic Training Course (BTC). During the training, candidates will receive a stipend of ₹25,000 per month.
Candidates must sign a bond with AAI, agreeing to serve for a specific period after training. If a candidate leaves the organization before completing the required service period, a recovery amount will be levied as follows:
- Up to 1 month after joining: No bond recovery.
- 1 to 3 months: ₹50,000 to ₹75,000.
- 1 to 2 years: ₹2,00,000.
- Beyond 3 years: No bond recovery.
