Meghalaya Transport Department Recruitment 2025 – Motor Vehicle Inspector Post

The Meghalaya Government invites online applications for the position of Motor Vehicle Inspector in the Transport Department. We’re looking for skilled and experienced professionals to join our team and help ensure vehicles in the state are safe and meet legal standards. This is a great opportunity for diploma holders in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with hands-on experience in inspecting and maintaining vehicles.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed Matriculation (Class 10).
  • Should possess a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Must hold a valid driving license for:
    • Motorcycles
    • Light Motor Vehicles (LMV)
    • Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV)
    • Passenger Vehicles

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in a reputed automobile workshop that deals with the repair and maintenance of both light and heavy vehicles with petrol and diesel engines.

Age Limit:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 32 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • PWD candidates: 10 years (15 years for SC/ST PWDs)
  • Government Employees: No upper age limit (must have entered service within prescribed limits)

Salary:

The selected candidates will receive a salary in Level 11 of the revised pay structure, as per prevailing state government norms. This includes basic pay, allowances, and benefits applicable to Group B technical posts.

Selection Process:

The recruitment will be conducted in two main stages:

1. Screening Test (Objective Type – Multiple Choice Questions):

Candidates who qualify in this screening test will be shortlisted for the next stage.

2. Personal Interview:

Shortlisted candidates based on performance in the screening test will be called for an interview.The final appointment will be determined by the overall performance of candidates in both the written examination and the personal interview.

All original certificates and documents will be scrutinized at the time of the interview.

  3. After successful registration, log in and select the Motor Vehicle Inspector (Post Code 01) application form.

  5. Pay the application fee through the preferred mode.
