JRF Opportunity in Landslide Detection and Mitigation (LandSense) Project at NIT Rourkela

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for the Landslide Detection and Prevention (LandSense) project. This project is funded by the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) under the Department of Telecommunications and aims to develop an integrated sensing and communication framework for the detection and management of landslides. The position is temporary and contractual, with the duration of the project being co-terminus with the completion of the project, which is expected to last until December 15, 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc. Engg./M.Sc./MCA in Electronics and Communication Engineering with a CGPA of 7.6 or higher (or equivalent marks).
    • A valid GATE score (or any equivalent entrance examination) is required for the candidates applying for this position.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • M.Tech/M.Sc. in Signal Processing or Communication with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
    • A basic understanding of Probability and Random Processes, Linear Algebra, Signal Processing, and Communication.
    • Hands-on experience in C, C++, and Python programming languages will be advantageous.

Experience and Skillset:

  • Experience in Signal Processing and Communication systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with software tools for simulation and algorithm development will be beneficial.

Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit is 28 years, as of the last date for application submission.
  • Relaxation in age is provided as follows:
    • A relaxation of 5 years is applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories and female applicants.
    • 3 years for OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates.

Salary and Benefits

  • Year 1 and 2: INR 37,000 per month
  • Year 3 (if extended): INR 42,000 per month
  • Additional Benefits:
    • House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be provided as per applicable norms if the candidate is not provided accommodation.
