Educational Qualification

The required qualifications vary depending on the discipline:

For Engineering / Technology Subjects

  • B.E./B.Tech/B.S. in the relevant discipline with First Class or equivalent.
    OR
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in relevant discipline with First Class in either of the two at the time of selection.

For Science & Humanities Subjects

  • Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with First Class or equivalent at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
  • Must have cleared NET (National Eligibility Test) conducted by UGC/CSIR or equivalent exam such as SLET/SET.

Special Note

  • Qualification for Dress Design & Garment Manufacturing and Interior Design will follow Engineering/Technology qualification norms.

Experience Criteria

Teaching or Post-Doctoral experience carries additional weightage:

  • 02 marks for each completed year of teaching/Post-Doctoral experience.
  • If experience is more than six months but less than one year, 01 mark will be awarded.
  • No fractional marks will be granted.

Additional provisions:

  • Need-based/Contractual teachers under Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education Department will receive 01 additional mark per year (maximum 5 marks).
  • The maximum marks for academic achievements will be capped at 80.
  • Time spent pursuing M.Phil or Ph.D. will not count as teaching experience.

Age Limit (As on 01 August 2025)

  • Maximum age limit: 65 years
  • There is no minimum age limit specified.
  • Candidates must not attain the age of 65 during the selection process.

The retirement age for Lecturers in Government Polytechnics is 65 years.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed under the following pay levels:

  • Level 9A – Entry Pay Rs. 56,100/-
  • Level 10 – Entry Pay Rs. 57,700/-

Additional allowances and benefits will be applicable as per Jharkhand government norms.

Selection Process

The selection process involves multiple stages:

1. Preparation of Merit List

Candidates will be shortlisted based on marks obtained in academic qualifications and achievements.

2. Document Verification

Five times the number of vacancies will be called for document verification.

3. Interview

After verification, three times the number of vacancies will be called for interview.

4. Final Merit List

The final selection will be based on:

  • Academic Record/Achievements
  • Teaching Experience
  • Interview Performance

In case of a tie:

  • Higher Post Graduation marks will be considered.
  • If still tied, older candidates will be given preference.

The Commission will prepare a final recommendation list based on vacancies and reservation roster.
