The Joint Entrance Examination( JEE) Main is a public- position entrance test conducted for scholars aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in Engineering, Architecture, and Planning. It is a gateway for admission into top institutions such as NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). The National Testing Agency( NTA) organizes the test in two sessions every time — Session 1 in January and Session 2 in April.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification:
    Candidates should have passed their Class 12 or equivalent exam in 2023, 2024, or be appearing in 2025.
  • Age Limit:
    There’s no age restriction for appearing in JEE Main.
  • Subjects Required:
    • For B.E./B.Tech: Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject in Class 12
    • For B.Arch: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry
    • For B.Planning: Mathematics only

Scope After Qualifying

While JEE Main itself is n’t a job examination, it’s the gateway to top engineering and armature institutes. Graduates from premier institutes such as NITs, IIITs, and IITs often get placed in leading companies with starting salary packages ranging from ₹6 LPA to ₹25 LPA or more, depending on skills, branch, and campus reputation.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT):
    Candidates appear for an online test depending on the paper they have chosen (B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, or B.Planning).
  2. Result Declaration:
    NTA releases scorecards and percentile rankings after the exam.
  3. JoSAA Counselling:
    Qualified candidates participate in centralized counseling for seat allocation in participating institutions.
  4. Admission:
    Final allotment depends on the rank, preferences, and seat availability.

Exam Pattern

For B.E./B.Tech:

  • Mathematics: 30 Questions
  • Physics: 30 Questions
  • Chemistry: 30 Questions
  • Total Duration: 3 Hours
  • Total Marks: 300

For B.Arch:

  • Mathematics (Part I)
  • Aptitude Test (Part II)
  • Drawing Test (Part III)

For B.Planning:

  • Mathematics (Part I)
  • Aptitude Test (Part II)
  • Planning-Based Questions (Part III)

Marking Scheme: 4 marks awarded for each correct answer and 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer (in MCQs).

Application Process

Follow these steps to complete the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 application form:

Step 1: Registration

  • Go to the official JEE Main website
  • Click on “New Registration”
  • Enter your name, contact details, and produce a word

Step 2: Fill Application Form

  • Log in using your credentials
  • Provide your academic and personal information
  • Select the exam paper and preferred exam cities

Step 3: Upload Documents

  • Passport-size photograph (10 KB to 300 KB)
  • Signature (4 KB to 50 KB)
  • Class 10 mark sheet (PDF format, up to 300 KB)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)

Step 4: Pay Application Fee

  • Pay the applicable fee through Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI
  • Save the payment receipt

Step 5: Download Confirmation Page

  • Once payment is successful, download the evidence runner as evidence of submission

Admit Card

  • The admit card will be available for download from March 27, 2025, on the sanctioned website
  • Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card and a valid photo ID proof on the day of the exam
