The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), under the Department of Space, Government of India, has released an exciting opportunity for engineering graduates to join its highly esteemed technical team. Through its latest recruitment drive, ISRO invites applications for the post of Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in the disciplines of Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Science. This recruitment is being conducted both through GATE scores and written examination modes in a mission mode manner to expedite the recruitment process.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC/EWS Candidates: Rs. 250/-
  • SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Servicemen/Women Candidates: Exempted from payment of application fee

Note: The application fee is to be paid online through net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI mode. The payment window will remain open until two days after the closing date for application submission.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline (Electronics, Mechanical, or Computer Science) with a minimum of:
    • 65% marks or
    • CGPA of 6.84 out of 10
  • The degree must be obtained within the prescribed course duration (i.e., not extended beyond the regular duration of the program).
  • For dual/integrated degree programs, the qualifying CGPA/percentage will be considered at the undergraduate level.
  • If the institute provides only CGPA, it will be considered as such; conversion to percentage will not be allowed.

GATE Score

  • A valid GATE-2024 or GATE-2025 score is mandatory for eligibility.
    • For Electronics: GATE Paper Code – EC
    • For Mechanical: GATE Paper Code – ME
    • For Computer Science: GATE Paper Code – CS

Candidates must enter their correct GATE score (Marks/Score) in the application form. GATE Rank or Percentile is not acceptable.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age allowed is 28 years as of May 19, 2025.
  • Age Relaxation: Relaxation in age is applicable as per the rules and guidelines set by the Government of India:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
    • PwBD and other categories: As per prevailing norms

Pay Scale and Benefits

  • Selected candidates will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix (7th CPC).
    • Basic Pay: Rs. 56,100/- per month
    • Gross Monthly Salary (approx.): Rs. 85,000/- including DA, HRA, and Transport Allowance

Selection Process

The selection methodology is as follows:

  1. Shortlisting based on GATE Score:
    • Candidates will be initially screened based on GATE-2024 or GATE-2025 scores.
    • A merit list will be prepared, and candidates meeting the cut-off criteria will be called for the next stage.
  2. Written Test (if applicable):
    • If required, ISRO may conduct a written test for certain posts.
    • Written test will be of objective type and may be conducted in multiple cities.
  3. Interview:
    • Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
    • Final selection will be based on the GATE score and performance in the interview or written test + interview, as applicable.
  4. Document Verification:
    • Candidates will be required to produce all original documents at the time of interview and final selection.
  5. Medical Examination and Background Verification:
    • Selected candidates will undergo pre-appointment medical check-up and background verification.

Note: Candidates currently employed in Government/PSU/Autonomous organizations must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview.
