ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), Pusa Campus, New Delhi has requested applications from suitable candidates for a walk-in/online interview for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DST-funded NECTAR project. This is a temporary position, ending with the project’s termination. This job calls upon motivated individuals to lead plant genetic discovery, cultivate community-based seed heritage, and safeguard the lasting legacy of indigenous crops—against the rich ecological canvas of North-East India.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

A postgraduate degree in one of the following disciplines is required:

• Botany
• Plant Genetic Resources
• Life Sciences
• Genetics and Plant Breeding
• Seed Science and Technology
• Horticulture

Desirable Experience

Candidates with practical experience in the following areas will be given priority:

• Community-driven seed systems
• Fieldwork in plant germplasm exploration and collection
• Participatory research and farmer-focused outreach in the North-East region

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is set at 35 years, calculated as of the date the advertisement was published.
• Relaxation in Age:
  • SC/ST/Female candidates: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-creamy layer): 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years

Pay Scale (Emoluments)

For Candidates with NET/GATE Qualification

• First 2 Years: ₹31,000/- + HRA
• 3rd Year Onwards: ₹35,000/- + HRA

For Candidates without NET/GATE

• First 2 Years: ₹25,000/- + HRA
• 3rd Year Onwards: ₹28,000/- + HRA
  

Selection Process

• Candidates will be shortlisted based on eligibility.
• Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email and phone for the walk-in/online interview.
• The selection process will rely solely on interview performance.
• Kindly note that travel or daily allowances will not be reimbursed for attending the interview.
