Government Job Alert: Inspector (Deputation) Vacancy at NCB, Ministry of Home Affairs

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is the main agency in India responsible for tackling drug trafficking and illegal drug use. It helps enforce the NDPS Act of 1985 and collaborates closely with law enforcement agencies around the country in the battle against drug-related crimes.

In a bid to augment its strength, the NCB seeks applications from willing and eligible officers for the post of Inspector on deputation. The drive is meant to replace 94 existing and future vacancies in various regional and zonal offices around the country. Eligibility

A. Officers Eligible for Deputation

Applicants must be officers from the Central Government, State Governments, or Union Territories, and must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Currently serving in a similar position on a regular basis within the parent organization or department.
    OR
    Having served for five years without interruption in positions designated at Level-6 of the Pay Matrix.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or Institution.
  3. Experience (Essential):
    • Three years’ experience in enforcement of regulatory laws and intelligence collection related to such enforcement.
  4. Experience (Desirable):
    • One year of experience in investigation of criminal or economic offences.
  5. Age Limit:
    • The applicant should not be more than 56 years of age as on the closing date of application submission.

Salary

  • Salary Grade: Level-7 in the Pay Matrix according to the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
  • Pre-revised Scale: Pay band ranging from ₹9,300 to ₹34,800, accompanied by a Grade Pay of ₹4,600.
  • Nature of Post: Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial)

Salary and benefits will be governed by deputation rules as per government norms.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be carried out on the basis of deputation eligibility, experience, and document verification.
  • Applications will be scrutinized by the competent authority.
  • Only eligible and suitable officers will be considered for the post.
  • Final selection will be made based on the recommendations of the NCB and Ministry of Home Affairs.

  1. Attested copies of APARs (Annual Performance Appraisal Reports) of the last five years, attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary or equivalent.

  3. Vigilance Clearance Certificate (in prescribed format)
  4. Record of any major or minor disciplinary actions taken in the past 10 years.

Deadline:

Period of Deputation

  • The initial period of deputation is ordinarily three years, which is extendable up to seven years based on suitability, performance, and administrative guidelines.
