Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Diploma in Stenography in English with:
- Minimum shorthand speed of 100 words per minute. A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute on a computer is required.
- Special preference will be extended to candidates who hold a degree in law.
- Employment Exchange Registration:
- A valid Employment Exchange registration number issued by the State of Assam is mandatory.
- PwBD Categories Eligible:
- Individuals with single limb impairment, dwarf stature, cured cases of leprosy, and survivors of acid attacks.
Age Limit (as on 21st May 2025):
- Unreserved: Maximum 40 years
- OBC/MOBC: Maximum 43 years
- SC/ST (P)/ST (H): Maximum 45 years
- PwBD: Maximum 50 years
Salary:
- Pay Band-2: Rs. 22,000 – Rs. 97,000/-
- Grade Pay: Rs. 9,400/-
- Other Allowances: As admissible under the rules.
Selection Process:
- Stage 1: Stenography Skill Test (90 Marks)
- Voice testing before dictation: 2 minutes.
- Dictation at 100 words per minute (700 words): 7 minutes.
- Time for testing the computer: 3 minutes.
- Transcription on computer: 20 minutes.
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum 45 out of 90 (50%).
- Shortlisting for Stage 2 will be done in a 1:10 ratio, based on merit.
- Stage 2: Descriptive Written Test – 100 Marks
- Duration: 2 hours.
- Sections:
- English Proficiency (Essay, Composition, Grammar): 80 marks.
- Assamese Language Knowledge: 20 marks.
- Qualifying Marks:
- English Section: Minimum 32 out of 80 (40%).
- Assamese Section: Minimum 8 out of 20 (40%).
- Stage 3: Viva Voce/Interview – 30 Marks
- Shortlisting for Interview: Candidates in the ratio of 1:3 based on merit in Stage 1 and qualifying in Stage 2.
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum 18 out of 30 (60%).
Final Selection:
- Based on the total marks obtained in Stage 1 and Stage 3.
- In case of a tie:
- Candidates with superior marks in Stage 1 will be prioritized.
- If still tied, the elder candidate will be given preference.
