Engagement Notification for Media Executive (Contractual) at PR Wing, General Administration Department, SMP Kolkata

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP), Kolkata, invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for engagement to the post of Media Executive on a purely contractual basis. The recruitment aims to strengthen the Public Relations (PR) Wing under the General Administration Department at the Kolkata Dock System. This engagement is for a fixed period of three (03) years, offering qualified candidates an opportunity to work in one of India’s major ports, contributing their expertise in mass communication, digital media, and graphic design.

The selected individual will play an essential role in visual design creation, media planning, and execution of campaigns related to port activities. The appointment is temporary and contractual in nature, and does not offer any promise or claim for future permanent employment.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Media Executive post, candidates must meet the following conditions:

Nationality

• Must be a citizen of India.

Upper Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 57 years as of 01 April 2025.

Candidates exceeding this age limit are not eligible to apply.

Essential Educational Qualification

1. Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:
   • Mass Communication
   • Digital Media
   • Graphic Design Management
     (The degree must be obtained from a recognized university or institution.)
2. Technical Proficiency:
   • Proficiency in the use of latest Graphic Design Software such as:
     • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
     • Canva
     • Affinity Designer
   • Candidates must be skilled in preparing creative visuals and graphics using these tools.

Essential Experience

• Minimum Two (02) Years of practicing experience in:
  • Innovative designing of visuals, including advertisements.
  • Media planning and execution in a reputed organization.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

While not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

1. Higher Educational Qualifications:
   • Master’s degree (MA/MSc.) in Journalism and Mass Communication or Graphic Design Management.
2. Work Experience:
   • Hands-on experience of working in both Print and Digital Media platforms.

Salary

• Consolidated Remuneration: Rs. 46,500/- per month

No additional allowances, benefits, or increments will be applicable during the period of the contract. The remuneration is fixed and consolidated for the entire tenure of engagement.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be carried out through the following stages:

1. Shortlisting:
   Applications will be screened to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria based on age, qualifications, and experience.
2. Written Test/Proficiency Test and/or Personal Interview:
   • Candidates who are shortlisted will be called to participate in a Written Test/Skill Test and/or a Personal Interview.
   • The nature and structure of the test or interview will be decided by SMP Kolkata and communicated accordingly.
   • Shortlisted candidates will be informed separately regarding the schedule and location for the test/interview.
3. Document Verification:
   Candidates are required to bring the original documents along with one set of self-attested copies of the following at the time of the test/interview.
   • Age Proof (Birth Certificate/Board Examination Admit Card).
   • Educational and Professional Qualification Certificates and Mark Sheets.
   • Experience Certificates.
   • Two (02) recent passport-sized color photographs.
   • Photo Identity Card issued by a Government Authority (such as Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, or Driving License).
4. Medical Examination and Antecedent Verification:
   • Selected candidates must undergo a medical fitness test.
   • Submission of an Antecedent Verification Report issued by the appropriate police authority will also be mandatory before final engagement.
