Each veterinary institution will engage Pashu Mitra based on local requirements, and applications must be submitted to the respective Sub Divisional Veterinary Hospital.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions to apply for the Pashu Mitra posts.
General Eligibility
- The applicant must be a local or neighboring resident of the Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body falling under the jurisdiction of the concerned veterinary institution.
- The candidate must be a bonafide resident of Himachal Pradesh.
- Applicants should be physically fit, mentally sound, and able-bodied.
- The candidate must possess good moral character and conduct.
Educational Qualification
Essential Qualification
- The candidate must have passed Matriculation (10th standard) from a recognized school or institution.
- Passing 10th from an institution located in Himachal Pradesh is mandatory, except for bonafide Himachali candidates, for whom this condition is relaxed.
Desirable Qualification
- Basic knowledge of Animal Husbandry activities.
- Familiarity with local customs, traditions, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh will be considered an added advantage.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 45 years
The age will be calculated as on the last date of receipt of applications, i.e., 05 February 2026. Candidates falling outside this age range will not be eligible for selection.
Salary Scale
Candidates selected for the post of Multi Task Worker (Pashu Mitra) will receive a fixed honorarium.
- Monthly Salary: ₹5,000
- Working Hours: 4 hours per day (part-time)
The remuneration is paid on an honorarium basis and does not include additional allowances, increments, or service benefits.
Selection Process
The selection process for Pashu Mitra recruitment consists of two main stages, ensuring transparency and merit-based engagement.
Stage I – Physical Fitness Test
All eligible candidates will be required to undergo a physical test.
- The candidate must be capable of carrying 25 kilograms of weight for a distance of 100 meters within one minute.
- Only candidates who successfully qualify in the physical test will be allowed to proceed to the next stage.
The schedule, venue, and time for the physical test will be communicated separately.
Stage II – Merit List and Counseling
Candidates who clear the physical test will be called for counseling and document verification.
- A merit list will be prepared out of 100 marks for each institution.
- A panel of five candidates per institution will be created by the Pashu Mitra Engagement Committee.
Merit Evaluation Criteria
- Matric Marks: Up to 85 marks (percentage multiplied by 0.85)
- Practical Experience in Animal Husbandry: Up to 4.5 marks
- Permanent Resident of Same Gram Panchayat: Up to 1 mark
- SC/ST/OBC Category: 1 mark
- BPL/EWS Category: 1.5 marks
- Widow/Divorced/Single Woman: 1.5 marks
- Single Daughter/Orphan: 1 mark
- Landless or Small Landholding Family: 2 marks
- Non-Employment Certificate: 1.5 marks
- NSS/NCC/Scouts/Sports Achievements: 1 mark
The final selection will be made based on merit and successful verification of original documents.

- Fill the form carefully in your own handwriting using blue or black ink.
- Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents.
- Enclose two self-addressed envelopes with the application.
- Submit the completed application to the Senior Veterinary Officer of the concerned Sub Divisional Veterinary Hospital where engagement is sought.
- Ensure the application reaches the office on or before 05 February 2026 by 4:00 PM.
