Deendayal Port Recruitment 2025: Contract Basis Openings for Signalman and Safety Inspector

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), functioning under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Government of India, has announced vacancies for contractual engagement in the Marine Department. The authority invites applications from qualified candidates for the posts of Signalman and Safety Inspector. These roles are central to ensuring effective communication and safety operations within the port premises. The appointments will be made on a purely contractual basis for a period of three years, offering an opportunity to work with one of India’s leading ports.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Signalman

• Educational Qualification:
  • Passed 12th standard (HSC) with Science stream from a recognized board.
  • Possession of a GMDSS Certificate or IALA Certificate.
  • 3-month Computer Application Certificate from a recognized institute.
• Experience:
  • Minimum three years of experience in one of the following roles:
    • Signalman
    • VTS Supervisor
    • Radio Officer in Merchant Navy
    • Radio Operator in Indian Navy

2. Safety Inspector

• Educational Qualification:
  • Graduate degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Fire from a recognized university.
• Experience:
  • At least three years of experience in:
    • Marine pollution control
    • Fire prevention operations

Salary

• The remuneration is consolidated and includes all allowances.
• No additional perks or benefits apart from those explicitly stated.

Other Service Conditions

• Employees are entitled to 12 days of casual leave annually, accruing at the rate of one day per month.
• Working Hours: 8-hour daily shift; 6-day work week with rotational/general shift.
• Accommodation: Eligible for “E” category quarters on a twin-sharing basis (subject to availability and rent payment).
• Transport: Port bus service from Gandhidham to Kandla on a paid basis.
• Medical Facility: OPD facility at the Port Hospital for self only.
• Contract Renewal: After every 11 months, the candidate will be released for one day and re-engaged on the same terms, up to a maximum of three years.
• Termination Clause: Either side can terminate the contract with 15 days’ notice.
• Other Conditions: No claim for permanent employment in the future will be entertained.

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting:

• Signalman: Top 50 candidates based on average marks in 12th (Science) will be shortlisted.
• Safety Inspector: Top 30 candidates based on graduation marks will be shortlisted.
• In case the mark sheet contains CGPA/CPA, the candidate must provide a conversion certificate to percentage at the time of interview.

2. Interview:

• Personal interviews will be conducted for shortlisted candidates.
• Date, time, and venue of the interview will be communicated through the official website.
• The final selection will be determined through an assessment of interview performance followed by verification of submitted documents.

• A recent passport-size photograph should be affixed on the top-right corner of the application.
• All documents enclosed with the application form must be self-attested by the applicant.

• Applications must be sent by post or courier.
• The envelope must clearly mention the title of the position being applied for.
• Applications must reach the designated office on or before 5th May 2025.
