Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Ex-Short Service Commission Officers or Ex-Servicemen in the rank of Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) such as Subedar or above from Army/Navy/Air Force
- Equivalent rank from paramilitary forces such as BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, etc.
Experience
- Must have at least 10 years of hands-on experience in security work.
- For Short Service Commission Officers and Assistant Commandants (in paramilitary forces), minimum 5 years of experience is required
- Inspectors in paramilitary forces must have 10 years of relevant experience
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years as on the closing date of online application (18 May 2025)
- Age relaxation applicable for Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India norms
Pay Scale
- Pay Matrix Level: Level-7 (₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400) as per 7th Central Pay Commission
- Basic Pay: ₹44,900
- Approximate Total Emoluments: ₹60,000 per month (including DA, HRA, etc.)

Physical Standards
Height
- General: 167 cm (Male), 157 cm (Female)
- Hilly Areas: 165 cm (Male), 155 cm (Female)
- ST Category: 162.5 cm (Male), 154 cm (Female)
Chest (for Male candidates)
- General: 80 cm unexpanded
- Hilly Areas: 80 cm unexpanded
- ST Category: 77 cm unexpanded
Note: Hilly area candidates include those from regions like Garhwal, Kumaon, Leh & Ladakh, Northeast states, etc.
Physical Efficiency Tests
For Male Candidates:
- 1600 m Running: 6 minutes 30 seconds
- Long Jump: 3.65 m (3 chances)
- Chin-ups: Minimum 6
- Push-ups: Minimum 12
- Sit-ups: Minimum 10
For Female Candidates:
- 800 m Running: 4 minutes
- Long Jump: 2.70 m (3 chances)
- Sit-ups: Minimum 10
2. Written Examination
Only those who qualify in the Physical Test will appear for the written exam.

Job Responsibilities
The Security Officer will be responsible for:
- Responsible for overseeing all security activities across the 250-acre CSIR-CBRI campus.
- Overseeing how security staff are assigned and making sure they’re working smoothly in all shifts.
- Keeping an eye on and taking care of security systems like CCTV cameras and tracking who comes in and goes out.
- Investigating theft, accidents, or other breaches in security
- Coordinating with local law enforcement when required
- Fire safety preparedness and training
- Ensuring maintenance and handling of firearms if necessary
