Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the role, candidates need to meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualification

  • Must hold a Postgraduate Degree in History from a recognized university or institution

Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in History at any recognized college or university

Desirable Specializations

  • Specialization in Indian Constitutional or Legal History
  • Ability to read or interpret Persian manuscripts
  • Familiarity with Odia Karani script

These qualifications are not mandatory but will be considered as an added advantage during the selection process.

Pay Scale / Remuneration

The pay structure differs based on whether the candidate is currently serving or retired.

In-Service Professors (Deputation Basis)

  • Will be entitled to the existing pay scale, allowances, and benefits as per the deputation norms applicable to government employees

Retired Professors (Contractual Basis)

  • Monthly Remuneration will be calculated as per the formula: ‘Pay Minus Pension’
  • Or a maximum cap of Rs. 1,00,000 per month, whichever is lower

Job Responsibilities

The Consultant (History) will be responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough research on old judicial records of the High Court and District Courts of Odisha
  • Assisting the Director-cum-Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in archival documentation
  • Contributing to the Judicial History Project through historical analysis, reporting, and interpretation
  • Preparing scholarly articles, reports, and manuscripts that preserve the legal history of the State
  • Identifying, deciphering, and cataloging ancient documents, including Persian and Odia Karani script texts, if applicable
