Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

For Trainee Engineer–I:
Applicants must possess a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a four-year B.Sc. Engineering program with Pass Class from a recognized university or institution approved by AICTE or UGC.

  • No prior work experience is required for either Trainee Engineer–I or Trainee Officer–I posts.

Age Limit

The age criteria are calculated as on 01 January 2026.

  • Maximum Age for General and EWS candidates: 28 years

Age Relaxation

  • SC / ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
  • PwBD candidates (40% disability or more): 10 years (in addition to applicable category relaxation)

Proof of age must be supported by SSLC, SSC, ISC, or equivalent certificates.

Salary Scale

Selected candidates will be engaged on a temporary basis with an attractive consolidated remuneration structure.

Monthly Remuneration

  • First Year: ₹30,000 per month
  • Second Year: ₹35,000 per month
  • Third Year (if extended): ₹40,000 per month

Additional Benefits

  • An additional consolidated amount of ₹12,000 per year will be provided towards insurance premium, uniform allowance, footwear allowance, and related expenses.
  • This amount will be paid in two installments during the service period.

Area Allowance

Candidates posted outside Kotdwara at locations without BEL unit facilities will receive an additional 10% of the consolidated salary as area allowance to compensate for hardship postings.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be conducted through a Walk-In Selection Process, which may include:

Only candidates who complete online pre-registration will be allowed to participate in the walk-in selection process. Final selection will be based on merit, performance during the selection stages, and fulfillment of eligibility conditions.

Career Growth & Advancement

BEL offers strong career progression opportunities even under temporary engagement.

  • Trainee Engineers and Officers who successfully complete two years of service with excellent performance may be considered for advancement to Project Engineer-I / Officer-I roles.
  • Performance criteria include assessment scores of 80% or above, good attendance, and discipline.
  • After advancement, candidates may serve up to four years and become eligible for a Retention Bonus of ₹1,00,000 at the completion of service.
