The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has officially announced the Assistant Professor Examination 2026 to recruit eligible candidates for teaching positions in Government Colleges under the Department of Education, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. This recruitment drive aims to fill 145 Assistant Professor posts across multiple academic disciplines. The posts are classified as Group ‘A’ Gazetted (Non-Ministerial) positions and offer a stable career opportunity for candidates aspiring to work in higher education within the state.
The recruitment process will be conducted through online applications, followed by screening and interview only, in line with UGC Regulations 2018. Candidates with strong academic backgrounds, NET/SLET/SET qualifications, or Ph.D. degrees will find this recruitment highly suitable. Application Fees

PwBD reservation is applicable in selected subjects, primarily under Locomotor Disability categories, including cerebral palsy, dwarfism, acid attack victims, muscular dystrophy, and leprosy-cured candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet educational, academic, and regulatory eligibility requirements as prescribed under UGC Regulations 2018.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must fulfill either Option A or Option B below:
Option A
- Master’s Degree in the relevant or allied subject with minimum 55% marks
- SC/ST candidates are eligible with 50% marks
- Must have cleared NET / SLET / SET
- OR hold a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016
Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET, provided they meet all prescribed conditions such as:
- Regular Ph.D. mode
- Evaluation by two external examiners
- Open viva-voce
- Two research publications
- Two conference/seminar presentations
Option B
- Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university ranked within the top 500 globally by QS, THE, or ARWU rankings.
For disciplines where NET/SLET/SET is not conducted, the requirement is waived as per UGC norms.
Age Limit
The age limit is calculated as per recruitment rules and category-wise relaxation norms.
- General Category: Up to 30 years
- SC/ST Candidates: Up to 35 years (5 years relaxation)
- APST Candidates: Up to 37 years + additional 5 years relaxation
- PwBD Candidates: Age relaxation as per government rules
- Government Servants of Arunachal Pradesh: Age relaxation applicable as per service rules
The upper age limit is strictly governed by the Assistant Professor Recruitment Rules 2024.
Salary Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Professors under the following pay scale (numerical format):
- Monthly Pay Range: ₹57,700 – ₹1,82,400
- Additional allowances such as DA, HRA, and other benefits will be admissible as per state government rules.
