IITRAM Ahmedabad Hiring: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position Available

The Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (IITRAM), Ahmedabad, invites applications from eligible and motivated candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work on a sponsored research project. The project is funded by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), Government of Gujarat.

The research study titled “A Study on Enhancing Sustainability and Performance of Biostabilized Slopes and Pond Linings through Utilization of Landfill Waste and Biowaste” has been conducted through geotechnical and environmental engineering investigations, where landfill waste and biowaste have been considered. The role presents a novel prospect for conducting practical research and laboratory testing in alignment with the sustainability mission of both the state and the nation.

The selected candidate will work under the guidance of Dr. Veerabhadra Rotte and Dr. Mahesh Mungule, who are the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator respectively.

Eligibility

Essential Educational Qualifications:

For M.Tech Candidates:

• Must hold a Master’s Degree (M.Tech.) in any specialization of Civil Engineering / Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Must have secured:
  • A minimum of 60% marks is required either in the final year or as a cumulative average across all semesters.
  • 6.0 CPI out of 10
• GATE qualification at any point in time is mandatory to be considered for higher emoluments.

For B.Tech Candidates:

• Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Must have secured:
  • Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks, either in the final year alone or as an overall average throughout all semesters.
  • 6.0 CPI out of 10
  • GATE qualified candidates will be given preference.

Desirable Skills:

• Proficiency in civil engineering material testing (soil, concrete, etc.)
• Ability to perform geotechnical laboratory experiments
• Familiarity with environmental engineering aspects
• Competence in analyzing and interpreting engineering data
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and develop new research capabilities

Salary

The monthly stipend and benefits are structured based on qualification and eligibility:

For GATE Qualified Candidates:

• First Two Years:
  • Stipend: Rs. 31,000/- per month
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): Rs. 5,000/- per month
• Third Year:
  • Stipend: Rs. 35,000/- per month
  • HRA: Rs. 5,600/- per month

For Non-GATE Candidates:

• First Two Years:
  • Stipend: Rs. 23,213/- per month
• Third Year:
  • Stipend: Rs. 27,300/- per month

Selection Process

• Shortlisting: Applications will be scrutinized based on educational qualifications, research background, relevant skills, and alignment with the project objectives.
• Candidates shortlisted based on eligibility and merit will be invited for an in-person interview, which is likely to be conducted at the IITRAM campus in Ahmedabad.
  • Travel or daily allowances will not be reimbursed for participation in the interview process.
• The final selection will be based on academic performance, research aptitude, communication skills, and interview performance.
