Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid using the modes prescribed by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC). The payment can be made via:

• Online Mode (Net Banking, Debit/Credit Cards via SBI e-Pay)
• e-Challan (Cash payment at any SBI Branch)

Fee Structure:

• General Category: As per official notification (to be checked on application portal)
• SC/ST Category: Concessional rate as per State rules
• Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will be eligible for relaxation in accordance with the Government of India’s policy guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Essential Qualification:

• Must have passed HSSLC (Class 12 or equivalent) from any recognized board in India.
• A honored Library Science instrument from any accredited Indian institution is essential.

Important Note:

• Your educational qualification date is when your university/board officially declares your final exam results.
• As per recent directives, degrees/certificates obtained after 31.05.2013 from the following institutions are not valid for general or technical posts:
  • Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE)
  • Aeronautical Society of India
  • Eligibility for Institution of Engineers (India) members will be determined by the Government’s final approval.

Candidates are advised to verify the recognition status of their qualifications before applying.

Age Limit

The age limit shall be determined as per Government norms and the classification criteria for Group ‘C’ posts:

• General Category: As per standard norms (usually 18–32 years)
• SC/ST candidates: Relaxation of up to 5 years
• PWD campaigners fresh relaxation of 10 times( years for SC ST PWDs)

Age will be calculated as on the last date for submission of application.

Pay Scale

The selected candidates will be appointed in Level 5 of the Revised Pay Structure under Meghalaya Government service.

Exact monetary amounts of Level 5 as per Meghalaya Government pay structure may vary and will be as per the official service rules.

Selection Process

The selection for the post of Library Assistant will be based on the following stages (subject to decision by the recruiting authority):

1. Written Examination
   • Multiple-choice or descriptive format testing general aptitude and knowledge of Library Science.
2. Personal Interview / Document Verification
   • Candidates shortlisted based on exam performance will be called for further evaluation.

The final merit list will be prepared based on performance in the exam and interview (if applicable), and only those who meet all eligibility criteria and document verification will be appointed.
