Vacancy Announcement: Joint Director (Fisheries) Post in Andaman & Nicobar Administration

The Andaman and Nicobar Administration is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the role of Joint Director (Fisheries) under the General Central Services (Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) cadre. Eligibility Criteria

A. Officers Eligible for Deputation

Officers from Central/State Governments, Union Territories, Agricultural Universities, or Recognized Research Institutes who fulfill the following conditions:

(a) Serving in an equivalent position on a permanent basis within the parent cadre or department.

OR

(b) Having completed five years of continuous service in the Level-10 pay band (Rs. 56,100 – 1,77,500) or its equivalent.

B. Educational Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  1. A postgraduate degree in Fisheries Science from an accredited university.
    OR
  2. M.Sc. in Zoology or Marine Biology, with a focus on Fisheries, from an accredited university.
    AND
  3. Five years of expertise in the development of Inland and Marine Fisheries.
Desirable:
  • Ph.D. in Fisheries or related specialization

Salary and Allowances

The position of Joint Director (Fisheries) falls under Pay Level-11 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Matrix, with a salary range of ₹67,700 to ₹2,08,700 per month.

For those familiar with the pre-revised pay structure, this aligns with the former Pay Band-3 (₹15,600 – ₹39,100) along with a Grade Pay of ₹6,600.

This competitive package ensures attractive remuneration while maintaining parity with central government pay standards.

Apart from the basic pay, the chosen officer will be eligible for:

  • Dearness Allowance as per Central Government rules
  • Deputation (Duty) Allowance
  • Personal Pay, if opted under rules
  • Eligibility for Special Compensatory Allowance, Territorial Local Allowance, and Island Duty Allowance, as applicable.
  • Transport Allowance and Joining Time benefits applicable during both the deputation and repatriation periods.
  • Annual free sea passage for the employee and their dependents for availing leave travel.
  • Leave Travel Concession as per applicable rules
  • Unfurnished residential accommodation, depending on availability, or House Rent Allowance (HRA) as an alternative.

Selection Process

The selection will be carried out through the deputation process, considering the following criteria:

Fulfilment of eligibility criteria

  • Review of Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Annual Performance Reports (APARs) for the last five years
  • Verification of integrity, vigilance clearance, and penalty record
  • Final approval from the competent authority after document verification and administrative checks
