Join DGFT as Junior Translation Officer – Deputation Opportunity Open Now

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), operating under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, is seeking applications from qualified Central Government employees for the position of Junior Translation Officer (JTO) on a deputation basis. These positions are available in the Zonal Office at CLA, New Delhi, and Regional Authorities in Ludhiana, Kanpur, and Varanasi, which fall under the Northern Zone.

DGFT serves as a key agency in executing the Foreign Trade Policy and maintains direct engagement with both exporters and importers. Eligibility Criteria

A. Eligibility for Officials

Applicants must be officers of the Central Government.
They should currently hold a similar position on a regular basis within their parent cadre or department.

B. Educational Qualifications and Experience

Applicants are required to possess the following educational qualifications and professional experience, in accordance with the Recruitment Rules issued on 15.07.2024:

  • A postgraduate degree from an accredited university in any of the following disciplines:
  • A bachelor’s degree in any field where Hindi and English were both mediums of instruction or studied as core or optional subjects.
  • A degree in English with Hindi either as a required or optional subject, or as the language of instruction at the undergraduate level; OR
    • A degree in any discipline where Hindi was the primary medium of instruction and English was studied as a mandatory or elective subject.
    • A degree in any subject taught in English, with Hindi taken as a mandatory or elective subject during graduation.
    • A degree in any discipline where both Hindi and English were utilized as languages of instruction or were included as compulsory or elective subjects during the course of study.

C. Age Criteria for Deputation

Applicants seeking deputation must be below 57 years of age on the closing date for application submission.

D. Additional Terms & Conditions

  1. Deputation Guidelines: The appointment will adhere to the standard deputation policies and regulations established by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
  2. Tenure: The deputation period is typically up to three years and may not be extended beyond this duration.
  3. Eligibility Restriction: Officers who are in line for direct promotion within their parent cadre will not be considered eligible for this deputation.

Salary & Benefits

  • ClassificationGroup ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial)
  • Pay ScaleLevel-6 in the 7th Central Pay Commission’s Pay Matrix
    • Salary Range₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 (as per basic pay)
  • Additional Benefits: The selected candidate will receive applicable allowances as per Central Government norms, in addition to the basic pay.

Selection Process

Step 1: Submission Requirements

Step 2: Mandatory Attachments

The following documents must accompany the application:

  • A properly filled application using the official template
  • A clearance certificate from the Vigilance Department, duly issued by the concerned Cadre Controlling Authority.
  • disciplinary record certificate confirming any major/minor penalties imposed in the last decade.
  • Self-attested photocopies of the last five years’ Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs), certified by a Group-A officer.

Step 3: Submission Protocol

All applications must be routed through the designated administrative channel. Any applications received through improper channels or found incomplete will be automatically rejected without further consideration.
