Recruitment Notice: Project Technical Support – II (Contractual) at JIPMER, Puducherry

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, invites applications from qualified and motivated individuals to work as Project Technical Support – II on a contract basis in a renowned research endeavour backed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The selected candidate will contribute to a project titled “Antinuclear Antibody Immunofluorescence patterns in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Diagnostic and Prognostic Evaluation using Artificial Intelligence.” This role offers an opportunity to work in a research-rich environment and gain hands-on experience in advanced immunological and molecular diagnostic techniques.

Vacancy Details

• Designation: Project Technical Associate – Grade II (On Contractual Basis)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (Essential):

• Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from a recognized university or government-approved institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Work Experience (Essential):

• Candidates must have hands-on experience in the following laboratory techniques:
  • Immunological techniques: Indirect Immunofluorescence (IIF), Flow Cytometry (FACS), ELISA, Immunoblot (IB), Nephelometry
  • Molecular biology techniques: DNA/RNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), SDS-PAGE

Work Experience (Desirable):

• A minimum of three years of experience in a government research laboratory is desirable. This may strengthen the application and enhance eligibility in case of high competition.

Age Limit:

• Maximum age limit: 30 years (as on the last date of receipt of application – 19 May 2025)
• Age relaxation may be applicable as per government norms or institutional discretion, if necessary.

Salary

• The selected candidate shall be granted a lump sum consolidated remuneration of Rs. 24,000/- per month.
• No additional allowances, housing, or travel benefits will be provided.
• The salary structure may be subject to revision or modification based on the availability of external funding or institutional policy.

Selection Process

The selection process will be carried out in a systematic and transparent manner, based on the following steps:

1. Initial Screening:

• Applications will be shortlisted based on eligibility, academic background, relevant work experience, and supporting documents.

2. Written Test (If applicable):

• A written test will be conducted only if the number of eligible applicants exceeds 25.
• The written test will assess candidates on:
  • Basic laboratory techniques
  • Molecular biology
  • Basic biomedical statistics

3. Interview:

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview or videoconferencing interview, as decided by the Project Investigator.
• The interview will assess:
  • Computer skills
  • Understanding of autoimmune diseases
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and presentation

4. Final Selection:

• Final selection will be based on cumulative performance in the application evaluation, written test (if applicable), and interview.
