The appointment will be offered on either a contractual or deputation basis for an initial duration of two years. Subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance each year. Vacancy Details

  • The selected candidate will be based at the Sri Vijaya Puram campus of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), a premier healthcare and research institution in the region.

Eligibility Criteria

A. Age Limit

  • The maximum age should not exceed 65 years as on the last date of application submission, i.e., 10th May 2025.

B. Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a recognized postgraduate medical degree from a recognized institution, as per guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC).

C. Experience

  • As per NMC guidelines, the candidate should have a minimum of ten years of teaching experience as a Professor/Associate Professor in the relevant department(s) of a hospital.
  • Out of the total experience, at least five years must be as a Professor.

D. Service Background

  • Officers currently serving in Central or State Government funded autonomous bodies are also eligible and may be considered on a deputation basis if desired.
  • Retired government officials are eligible to apply on a contractual basis, subject to regulations laid out by the Department of Expenditure.

Salary and Allowances

The selected candidate will receive an attractive compensation package depending on the mode of appointment:

For Contractual Appointment

  • The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of ₹2,75,000 (Rupees Two Lakh Seventy-Five Thousand only).
  • Annual Increment: 3% increment on the consolidated remuneration after completion of each year of continuous service, subject to extension
  • Academic/Special Duty Allowance: ₹30,000/- per month
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): ₹20,000/- per month (if free accommodation is not provided)

For Deputation Appointment

  • Pay and other benefits will be governed as per rules issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), under Pay Level-14 of the Central Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016.

For Retired Government Officials (Contractual)

  • Remuneration will be governed by the Office Memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, dated 9th December 2020, regulating contractual appointment of retired government employees.

Selection Process

  • The selection will be based on performance in the interview, which will be conducted via Video Conferencing from Port Blair.
  • The exact date and time of the interview will be communicated in advance through SMS or email to the shortlisted candidates.
  • Results will also be communicated individually and will be displayed on the official portal of the institution.
  • The Director of ANIIMS holds the authority to cancel, defer, or reschedule the interview process at any point in time.
