GRSE Careers 2025: Contract-Based Positions for Experts and Specialists

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE Ltd.) is a leading defence public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. GRSE is renowned for its expertise in building advanced naval vessels and has contributed immensely to the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and friendly foreign countries. To further strengthen its operations and modernization efforts, GRSE invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for engagement as Experts/Specialists on a contractual basis. These contractual roles aim to bring onboard individuals with deep domain knowledge and experience in Ship Repair and Yard Modernization to contribute effectively to project planning, execution, and strategic development.

Application Fees

Vacancy Details

1. Expert / Specialist (Ship Repair)
   • No. of Posts: 80
   • Type: Full-time
   • Duration: Initially for 2 years, extendable based on performance and organizational needs
2. Expert / Specialist (Yard Modernization)
   • No. of Posts: 60
   • Type: Part-time (15 working days per month)
   • Duration: Initially for 2 years, extendable as per requirement

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a full-time four-year engineering degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institution. AMIE qualifications (Sections A and B) obtained before 31 May 2013 are also considered equivalent.

• Expert / Specialist (Ship Repair): Degree in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, Electrical, Electronics, or Production Engineering.
• Expert / Specialist (Yard Modernization): Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification in the civil domain.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 65 years as on 1st April 2025
• Upper age may be relaxed up to 69 years in exceptional cases based on qualifications and experience.

Experience

• Minimum Total Experience: 22 years for both positions

Expert / Specialist (Ship Repair):

• At least 8 years of experience in a senior position in a reputed shipyard, Indian Navy, or Defence establishment.
• Expertise in ship repairs and refits, naval/coast guard ship construction, classification society rules, statutory regulations, cost estimation, bid preparation, and vendor development.

Expert / Specialist (Yard Modernization):

• Experience in managing civil infrastructure projects in shipbuilding or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency in project engineering, contract and project coordination, infrastructure modernization strategy, and execution is required.

Salary and Remuneration

• Remuneration: The consolidated monthly pay will be negotiable based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and last drawn salary.

For Part-time Engagement (Yard Modernization):

• Fixed number of 15 working days per month
• Payment on a pro-rata basis for extra days worked or deduction for shortfall in days
• No payment for weekly off days unless required to attend duty
• Reimbursement of transport and mobile charges may be considered based on negotiation

Selection Process

• The selection will be based on an interview to assess domain knowledge, experience, and suitability for the post.
• Interviews may be conducted via video conferencing/online mode.
• Shortlisted candidates will be notified about the schedule and further instructions.
• No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview, but air fare may be reimbursed for outstation candidates subject to production of proof and eligibility.
