Akashvani PTC Recruitment 2025 – Work as a Part-Time Correspondent in Kottayam

Akashvani (formerly known as All India Radio), Thiruvananthapuram, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is engaging Part-Time Correspondents (PTCs) on a contractual retainership basis for Kottayam district.

The recruitment follows the Revised Scheme for PTC engagement, available on the NSD website. This role provides a platform to report local news that matters, particularly for radio broadcasts.

Eligibility Criteria

If you’re aiming for the role of Part-Time Correspondent, here’s what you’ll need to bring to the table to be considered eligible:

A. Educational Qualification (Essential)

• A PG Diploma or Degree in Journalism/Mass Communication
  OR
• A Graduate degree in any field with minimum 2 years’ experience in journalism.

B. Age Criteria

• Minimum Age: 24 years
• Maximum Age: 50 years
• Age will be calculated as on 30th May 2025

C. Residential Requirement

• Must reside at the District Headquarters of Kottayam or within a 10 km radius of the Municipal limit.

D. Other Mandatory Skills

• Basic computer knowledge and word processing proficiency
• Must own news gathering devices such as a smartphone, camera, or voice recorder

E. Desirable Qualification

• Prior experience in electronic media reporting (TV, radio, online journalism) is preferred

Pay Scale / Remuneration

The PTC will receive an average monthly remuneration of Rs. 9,250/-, which includes:

• Payment for news contributions
• Conveyance charges
• Telephone charges

Remuneration is performance-based and is subject to certification of satisfactory service by the Regional News Unit (RNU) Head, Akashvani Thiruvananthapuram.
It is as per circular No. RNU/PTC Guidelines/Modification/2022/1152, dated 28.08.2024.

Nature of Engagement

This is not a permanent government job, but a contractual assignment with the following features:

• Contractual retainership – part-time and flexible
• Initial engagement is for 3 months on a monthly basis
• Upon satisfactory performance, contract is renewed yearly
• Engagement is permitted only up to the age of 60 years
