Application Fee

  • For BC / BCM / MBC & DC / Others / Unreserved:
    • ₹1200 for Personal Assistant to Hon’ble Judges
    • ₹1200 for Private Secretary to the Registrar General
    • ₹1000 for Personal Assistant (to the Registrars)
    • ₹800 for Personal Clerk (to the Deputy Registrars)
  • For ST, SC, and SC(A) candidates from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry:
    • Exempted from fee
  • For Persons with Disability and Destitute Widows:
    • Exempted from fee
    • Benchmark disability must be 40% or more
    • valid Destitute Widow Certificate issued by a competent authority is mandatory.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years (i.e., born on or before 01 July 2007)
  • Maximum Age:
    • Candidates belonging to SC, SC(A), ST, MBC & DC, BC, and BCM categories must not exceed 37 years of age, i.e., they should be born on or after July 1, 1988.
    • Others / Unreserved Categories: 32 years (born on or after 01 July 1993)
    • For in-service personnel from the Madras High Court or Tamil Nadu Judicial Ministerial Service, the upper age limit is 47 years, applicable to those born on or after July 1, 1978.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications (For All Posts)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Medicine, or any discipline from a recognized University under 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern.

Technical Qualifications

1. Personal Assistant to Hon’ble Judges

  • English Shorthand proficiency at the Higher/Senior Grade level-120 wpm is required
  • English Typewriting (Higher/Senior Grade) – 45 words per minute
  • Skilled in Tamil Typewriting at the Higher/Senior Grade level, maintaining a speed of 45 words per minute.
  • Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation by Directorate of Technical Education
    • Candidates without the certificate may also apply but must obtain it during the probation period
    • However, candidates holding a degree or diploma in Computer Science or Engineering are exempted from this requirement.

2. Private Secretary to the Registrar General

  • Same qualifications as Personal Assistant to Hon’ble Judges

3. Personal Assistant (to the Registrars)

  • Proficiency in English Shorthand at the Higher/Senior Grade level with a speed of 120 words per minute is mandatory.
  • Tamil Shorthand (Higher/Senior Grade) – 90 words per minute
  • Proficient in English and Tamil Typewriting at Higher/Senior Grade level, with a typing speed of 45 words per minute.
  • Completed a certified course in Office Automation, conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education

4. Personal Clerk (to the Deputy Registrars)

  • Same qualifications as Personal Assistant (to the Registrars)

Selection Process

The recruitment process is likely to involve multiple stages of evaluation:

  1. Written Examination – Objective type to test general knowledge, English, and subject-related skills
  2. Skill Test – Includes shorthand and typewriting test in English and Tamil as per the required speed
  3. Interview / Oral Test – For final evaluation of candidates’ suitability
