Applications Invited for Senior Resident Posts – 2025 Residency Scheme

Northern Railway Central Hospital, located in New Delhi, invites applications from qualified and eligible candidates for engagement to the post of Senior Resident under the Senior Residency Scheme. The recruitment is being conducted on a walk-in basis, and candidates must attend the interview in person with all necessary documents and a completed application form in the prescribed format.

The Senior Residency Scheme gives doctors a great chance to gain hands-on experience in different medical departments while working in a well-organized and supportive setting. The initial appointment will be made for one year with the possibility of annual extensions for up to three years in total, subject to the candidate’s performance, conduct, and work output.

  • All candidates are required to arrive at the venue promptly by 8:30 A.M.
  • If the number of candidates is high, the interview may be continued on the next working day.

  • There is no application fee for any candidate.
  • The walk-in interview process is free of cost and does not require any payment at any stage of the recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the following eligibility requirements to be considered for the walk-in interview:

A. Educational Qualification

  • The candidate should possess a Postgraduate Degree or Diploma recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), National Board of Examinations (NBE), or Dental Council of India (DCI) in the concerned specialty.
  • Candidates must have completed the tenure of their PG degree/diploma before the date of interview.
  • For Dental Senior Resident: Only candidates with MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or Periodontics are eligible.
  • In absence of PG-qualified candidates (except Dental): Candidates with MBBS and at least three years of experience (including one year of Junior Residency) in a 300+ bedded government hospital or recognized private institution may be considered for a one-year appointment only.

B. Registration Requirements

  • Candidates must have a valid registration with:
    • Medical Council of India (MCI), or
    • Delhi Medical Council (DMC), or
    • State Medical Council, or
    • Delhi Dental Council (DDC)
  • Those not registered with DMC/DDC must apply for registration before joining and produce proof at the time of joining.

D. Tenure of Engagement

  • The initial appointment is for one year.
  • It may be extended annually for a maximum of three years based on:
    • Satisfactory performance
    • Good conduct
    • Positive recommendations from the department
  • Any prior experience as a Senior Resident (adhoc or regular) in any institution will be counted towards the three-year total tenure limit.

Salary Details

The selected Senior Residents will be paid as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations.

  • Pay Matrix Level: Level-11
  • Basic Pay: ₹67,700 per month
  • Gross Salary Range (approximate): ₹67,700 to ₹2,08,700
  • Other Allowances: Admissible allowances like House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), etc., will be paid as per central government rules.

Selection Process

  • The selection process will take place via a walk-in interview.
  • After initial document verification, eligible candidates will be allowed to appear before the selection committee.
  • The final list of selected candidates will be compiled based on the following criteria:
    • Educational qualifications
    • Clinical experience
    • Performance in the interview
    • Subject knowledge and communication skills
  • The list of selected candidates will be:
    • Displayed on the hospital notice board
    • Communicated through email and speed post
  • The verdict of the Selection Board shall be considered final and cannot be challenged.
