TNUSRB SI Exam 2025: Notification, Syllabus & Online Application Details

The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Sub-Inspectors of Police (Taluk & Armed Reserve) in 2025. Sub-Inspectors of Police (Armed Reserve) – 366 Vacancies

• Men: 255
• Women & Transgender Candidates: 111

Shortfall Vacancies (Taluk) – 53 Vacancies

• Scheduled Caste (SC): 10 (Men: 7, Women: 3)
• Scheduled Tribe (ST): 43 (Men: 30, Women: 13)

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the Tamil Nadu Government. The degree must be completed in one of the following patterns:

• 10+2+3/4/5 pattern
• 10+3+2/10+3+3 pattern (after SSLC and Diploma)
• 10+2+3 pattern (after SSLC and 2 years ITI)

Degrees obtained through Open Universities or Distance Learning will be valid only if they adhere to these patterns.

2. Age Limit (as of July 1, 2025)

• General Candidates: 20 – 30 years
• BC, BC(M), MBC/DNC: Up to 32 years
• SC, SC(A), ST & Transgender Candidates: Up to 35 years
• Destitute Widows: Up to 37 years
• Ex-Servicemen & Departmental Candidates: Up to 47 years

Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms.

Pay Scale

Candidates selected for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police will receive a salary in the range of:

₹36,900 – ₹1,16,600/- per month, along with additional allowances and benefits as per government regulations.

Selection Process

The selection procedure consists of multiple stages to assess candidates thoroughly:

1. Written Examination

• Open Quota Candidates:
  • Part I – Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Qualifying in Nature)
  • Part II – Main Examination (100 Marks)
• Departmental Quota Candidates:
  • Single Examination (140 Marks)

Minimum Qualifying Marks: 25 out of 100 (Open Quota) / 30 out of 140 (Departmental Quota)

2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Candidates must meet specific height and chest requirements.

• Men:
  • Height:
    • OC/BC/MBC: 170 cm & above
    • SC/ST: 167 cm & above
  • Chest:
    • Normal: 81 cm
    • Expansion: Minimum 5 cm
• Women & Transgender Candidates:
  • Height:
    • OC/BC/MBC: 159 cm & above
    • SC/ST: 157 cm & above

3. Endurance Test (ET)

• Men: 1500m running in 7 minutes
• Women & Transgender Candidates: 400m running in 2 minutes and 30 seconds
• Ex-Servicemen: 1500m running in 8 minutes

4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – 15 Marks

Candidates will be tested in rope climbing, long jump, and running events.

E. Certificate Verification & Viva Voce (10 Marks)

Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification and a personal interview to assess their suitability.

Final selection will be based on the combined performance in all stages.
