Eligibility Criteria for SSC Tech 2025 Recruitment

  • Nationality:
    • Indian citizens or Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
    • Persons of Indian origin who migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Kenya, Uganda, etc., with an intention of settling in India, provided they have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
  • Age Limit:
    • For SSC Tech (Men & Women): Candidates should be aged 20 to 27 years as of 01 October 2025 (Born between 02 October 1998 and 01 October 2005).
    • For Widows of Defense Personnel: The maximum age is 35 years as of 01 October 2025.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • For SSC Tech (Men & Women): Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of their Engineering Degree in the required disciplines.
    • Final-year students should submit proof of passing their degree by 01 October 2025 and produce the degree certificate within 12 weeks of course commencement.
    • For widows applying for SSCW (Non-Tech), a bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisting of Applications:
    • The Indian Army reserves the right to shortlist candidates based on their cumulative percentage of marks in their engineering degree (up to the final semester/year).
  • SSB Interview:
    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. The SSB centers are located in Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Jalandhar (Punjab).
    • Candidates can select their preferred date for the SSB interview, subject to availability.
  • Two-Stage Selection Procedure:
    • Stage 1: Screening through a series of intelligence and reasoning tests. Candidates who fail in this stage will be sent back on the same day.
    • Stage 2: Psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews.
  • Medical Examination:
    • Candidates recommended after Stage 2 will undergo a thorough medical examination.
  • Merit List:
    • Final selection will be based on merit, subject to medical fitness and fulfillment of all eligibility criteria.

Training at Pre-Commissioning Training Academy

  • Duration of Training:
    • The training will span 49 weeks at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
  • Rules During Training:
    • Candidates are prohibited from marrying or living with parents/guardians during the training period.
    • Those who marry during training or withdraw for personal reasons will be liable to refund training costs.
  • Training Expenses:
    • The training expenses, amounting to ₹16,260 per week (2023 rates), are fully borne by the Government. Withdrawal from training without valid medical or exceptional reasons will require candidates to refund this cost.

Job Role and Commission Details

  • Short Service Commission:
    • Candidates will initially be granted a Short Service Commission as Lieutenants.
  • Tenure:
    • The tenure is 10 years, extendable by an additional 4 years based on performance and organizational requirements.
    • Candidates can also opt for Permanent Commission in their 10th year of service, subject to eligibility.
  • Ante-Date Seniority:
    • One year of ante-date seniority will be granted to engineering graduates in the rank of Lieutenant.

Documents Required for SSB Interview

  • Engineering Degree Certificate (or proof of final-year status).
  • Mark sheets of all semesters/years.
  • A valid photo ID card (Aadhaar, Passport, etc.).
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable).
  • Widows must produce their late husband’s death certificate, details of service, and a declaration from the concerned authority.

  • Candidates must ensure they meet the age, educational, and nationality criteria before applying.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified via their registered email for the SSB interview.
  • No representation for changes in SSB center allotment will be entertained.
